FHF HORSTMANN sheet belt separators, also called air separators, are preferably used to split the material flow into light and heavy fractions. They are mainly used in domestic and commercial waste treatment plants as well as in plants for processing lightweight packaging.
Fractions such as foils and paper as well as other materials with a low specific weight are effectively separated from the heavy substances contained in the material flow.
The input material is guided past an air nozzle that blows light and airworthy material into a calming room. The incline of the air nozzle can be adjusted to vary the blow-out angle. The light materials can settle here due to a lower air speed and be transported away via a conveyor belt.
In order to further optimize the degree of separation, a curved conveyor belt, the so-called arched belt, is arranged behind the air nozzle. The arch belt can be adjusted in 3 axes, so that further materials that can be assigned to the light fraction can be separated using this option. All of the remaining heavy materials are then transferred to a corresponding discharge conveyor in the lower area of the sheet conveyor sifter.
Since the sheet belt sifter works largely in recirculation mode, dust emissions are almost impossible. Dust-laden air is separated by an automatically cleaning filter and is usually added to the light fraction.
